In 1904, Kandinsky and Münter discovered the Bavarian town of Murnau. Here they found a breakthrough in their art and also the impetus of a new movement “The Blue Rider”. After their separation, Münter led an itinerant life, abandoning painting till her return to Murnau and the Russian House, which she had bought in 1909.
